Ka’anapali Golf Course: A wallet-friendly gem in West Maui
The Ka’anapali Golf course is a wallet-friendly gem in West Maui. Enjoy some amazing golf with jaw dropping views of the pacific ocean.
It’s no secret that Hawaii and in particular Maui has some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. And as the PGA tour gets set to tee it up at Kapalua, it’s my hope that I can shed some light on another amazing course in West Maui. Perhaps if you are in the area taking in the awesome talent the likes of DJ and Rory. You can take a short drive to play the Royal Ka’anapali golf course, you won’t be disappointed.
The Royal Ka’anapali golf course is situated in the resort town of Ka’anapali and is home to two great courses right along the water. Just steps away from any of the Ka’anapali resorts and only a short drive from Lahaina or anywhere else on West Maui. It sets up for a perfect day of picturesque island golf for any level.
To play the royal course you can expect to pay for a relative bargain of $179 USD (for resort guests), when compared to the $300 price tag at Kapalua.
With GPS enabled carts, your round stats with a relatively tame par 5 with water down the right, and an approach shot well-protected green with bunkers on the left and water on the right.
The round really kicks into high gear when you make you way up to the 2nd green. You finally get to see what you are about to play the rest of the day.
The signature 5th hole takes you right out to the beach. Hopefully, for your sake that’s the only beach, you find as there are many
After the first 6 holes you head further up the hill and across the road for some of the best views of the pacific ocean and island of Lanai. It was on this side of the course that I found what was my true favourite hole.
Number ten is nestled back on the far end of the course where you are met with a spectacular view. With a narrow tree-lined fairway it demanded your best drive of the day.
Overall the Royal Ka’anapali golf course was an amazing experience and a great value.
Instead of renting clubs from the course. Get some premium clubs from Jimmy’s Maui Golf Rentals. Book your round through them and save even more money.
Angel Park Las Vegas: Hotter than Hell
A golf course can
When we were there in mid-September the mercury cruised right past 100F (40C). So I can’t imagine what it would be like in the middle of summer. That’s likely why during the hot summer months you can usually find really good rates here at Angel Park.
Temperature aside Angel Park Mountain course was a real pleasure to play. Designed by Arnold Palmer in 1990, the stark contrast between lush green grass and the barren desert is truly amazing.
Only a stone’s throw from two of Vegas’ most famous courses the TPC courses of Las Vegas and Summerlin. At Angel
Although it’s located a little further off the strip, any trip to Vegas would benefit from a visit to Angel Park. Even if you can’t come during the day, they have a 9 hole lighted course and putting course to keep you busy at any hour.
Wailua Municipal Golf Course: A muni with a view
A resort view without the resort price.
Much like the rest of Hawaii, on the island of Kauai, there are many great resort golf options. But one of the course that can be easily overlooked is Wailua Municipal Golf Course.
One of the great things about travel is being able to connect with the locals to learn more about their city, and culture. So what better place than the islands municipal golf course.
Once you step up the first tee you can see why the locals love to play here so much. The first 3 holes of Wailua Municipal Golf Course run along the ocean with views through the trees. I especially liked the view behind the Par 3, 3rd tee box.
For non-residents weekday rates of $48, and weekend rates of $60 you would be very lucky to find a better value on the island.
If you come to Wailua Municipal Golf Course and can’t play the full 18. I suggest you do. Make sure you play the second 9. There are a number of great holes on the second 9, but the one you want to see is #17.
The 17th hole is a medium length downhill par 3, with the Pacific ocean as the backdrop. It’s as challenging as it is beautiful with 3 large bunkers
Don’t want to take my word for it, maybe Matt Ginella will convince you. He ranked Wailua Municipal Golf Course the best value on Kauai.
